Dundee Stars Junior Ice Hockey club caters for all youth age groups. Our Learn-to-Play programme is ideal for introducing kids to the game at any age - so long as they are able to skate safely. As a guideline, children as young as 4 years of age with skating competence around Skate UK Level 5 have been able to take part and even train with the U10 age group. For children in the age group 7yrs to 14yrs, we would expect skating competence to be at least Skate UK Level 8. Our club offers ice-hockey for older children and youths all the way up to the Under-20 age group.
Learn-To-Play is an informal, drop-in session run on the second-last Thursday of each month from 5pm-6pm from September-May. Numbers are limited therefore please contact the club in advance to book a space to avoid disappointment. Children are assessed in the final 10-15 minutes of the 5-6pm session to allow coaches to determine if a child is ready to start training and ensure they will be safe to do so and at which level. Children wishing to trial are to arrive at 5pm where they will join a member of the club who will help source appropriate kit and equipment for them to use and show players and parents how to put on the kit so they are safe on the ice.
